Grassroots BC Liberal / BC United Members Launch ‘Unite Liberal BC’ to Reclaim Party Governance

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Coalition calls on Kevin Falcon to step aside, citing party constitution, active debt-free status, and the need for a viable centre-right alternative to defeat the BC NDP.

VANCOUVER, BC — September 7, 2026 — A coalition of longtime organizers, volunteers, and former riding executives has launched Unite Liberal BC, an internal grassroots campaign aimed at mobilizing current and former members to reclaim control of the BC United (formerly BC Liberal) party apparatus.

The initiative emerges after party leadership abruptly suspended campaign operations in August 2024 without broad membership consultation. Organizers emphasize that despite the suspension of general election activities, BC United remains an active, debt-free registered political entity with valuable assets and an active constitution that vests authority in its membership.

“For over a century, the BC Liberal Party served as the primary free-enterprise coalition capable of defeating the NDP and governing British Columbia,” said Carol Fielding, lead organizer for Unite Liberal BC and former BC Liberal / BC United Regional Director and Riding Association President. “Right now, four individuals are holding the keys to an organization built by tens of thousands of dedicated volunteers and donors. Our constitution exists to govern moments like this, and it is time for Kevin Falcon to step aside so the true membership can decide the future of our party.”

Unite Liberal BC is focusing its initial mobilization on several core objectives:

  • Member Identification and Census: Locating and reconnecting individuals who held active memberships, voted on the 2023 name change, donated, or supported riding associations during the 2023–2024 election cycles.
  • Constitutional Accountability: Enforcing internal party constitutional bylaws to ensure leadership selection and executive governance return to the grassroots.
  • Centre-Right Representation: Establishing a viable roadmap to provide British Columbians with a principled, mainstream centre-right alternative in provincial politics.

The campaign is urging anyone who contributed time, financial support, or candidate nominations prior to the 2024 campaign suspension to re-engage by submitting an online registration form.
